    Many users have encountered this issue and it can be quite frustrating. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps you can take to fix this problem quickly and easily.

    Why Is USB Keyboard Not Working In My Windows 10 & 11 Computer?

    So far, there are a couple of reasons as to why USB keyboard is not working on your Window 10 or 11 computer.

    It’s could be that you’ve wrongly plugged in the keyboard to the computer, or the keyboard is bad.

    There is also a possibility that the USB keyboard is not compatible with your computer or your computer USB port is bad.

    Although, there are more factors to this but whichever one is the case, you’ll learn how to fix the problem here.

    How To Fix USB Keyboard Not Working In Your Windows 10 & 11 Computer

    It is advisable to know how to fix your USB keyboard when it is not working on your Windows computer.

    Below are the working fixes to do when you notice your USB keyboard is not working.

    Fix 1: Confirm the USB keyboard Workability

    In this case, the first thing to do is it ensure that the USB Keyboard is good before connecting it your PC so as not to expose your device to potential harm.

    Fix 2: Be Sure of Keyboard and PC USB Port

    Sometimes, the USB keyboard may not be working due to a bad USB port with your device’s interface.

    You also need to be sure that the USB port of both your PC and Keyboard are functioning as supposed.

    Fix 3: Ensure Keyboard Setting is Turned On

    If your USB Keyboard is not working on your Windows 10 or 11 computer, ensure to turn On the Keyboard Settings and do this.

    Go to Start > type Keyboard in the search box > turn On Sticky Keys.

    You can restart your computer to make this feature take effect. After that, your USB keyboard should work. If it doesn’t, do the next fix.

    Fix 4: Disable Filter Keys Feature

    The Filter Keys feature when enabled can cause issues that will make your keyboard not work. To disable the Filter Keys.

    Search and Open Control Panel > select Ease of Access > Change how your keyboard works > Make the keyboard easier to use > Uncheck Turn on Filter Keys > click Apply > then Ok.

    Fix 5: Update your Keyboard Driver Software

    When your keyboard is not working, you can update your keyboard drivers software through Device Manager. To do this.

    Open Device Manager > scroll down to Keyboards > double-click on your Keyboard name > Select Drivers > click on Update Drivers.

    After updating the keyboard driver, restart your computer and the keyboard will be as normal.

    Fix 6: Restart your Windows 10 Or 11 Computer

    In most cases, restarting your Windows computer can quickly fix some bugs. So you can restart your computer to see if the problem stops.

    Click the Start icon > Tap on the Power icon > Select Restart.

    Fix 7: Make Sure Keyboard is Enabled in BIOS

    The Keyboard will not work if it is disabled in your Windows 10 and 11 computer BIOS Settings. So you’ll have to enable it and to do this.

    For Windows 10: Open Settings > Click on Update & Security > scroll down to Recovery > on Advanced startup click the Restart now > on the restart blue screen > choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > scroll down and click Restart > When you are in the BIOS screen > look through for Keyboard settings > Enable Keyboard.

    For Windows 11: Open Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced startup > Click Restart now > On the restart blue screen> choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Scroll down and click Restart > When you are in the BIOS screen > Look through for Keyboard settings > Enable Keyboard.

    Fix 8: Adjust Power Management

    Adjusting the power management can be helpful when your keyboard is not working. This fix applies to Windows 10 and 11 computers.

    To do this. Open Device Manager > Click Universal Serial Bus controllers > Double-click on USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) > Navigate to Power Management > Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

    Fix 9: Ensure Keyboard is not Lock Using Lock Key

    Due to the difference in manufacturers, some computer keyboard comes with a Lock Key. You may have mistakenly activated it.

    Ensure to turn off or disable the lock key. Sometimes, Windows + Spacebar can neutralize this.

    Fix 10: Update Your Computer Windows

    Updating your Windows can also help when your keyboard is not working. The Microsoft Windows updates come with some fixes normally.

    Go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates > Install Update > Restart Computer.
